Victory

Victory

Why do we let the enemy in?
Why do we ever entertain sin?
Don't we know the victory is won?
By Jesus, the most Holy Son

"It is finished," on the cross said He
Proclaiming everlasting victory
To all who cling to Him and believe
To all who abide---we shall achieve

We are children of the light
Jesus has already fought the fight
Our battles won't determine the end of the war
'Cause that's been won by Christ forevermore

When a battle comes upon us now
It's to settle which master we will allow
Whether we will in darkness hide and cow
When we believe the devil's lies somehow

But we are children of the light
We have the Word with which to fight
Oh, don't let the enemy trick you to doubt
Christ dwells in you---you're never without

His love and His power will resist the enemy
Scripture says, "Resist the devil and he will flee."
Satan has no right in you or me
Jesus Christ has set us free

Praise the Lord that we're His sons
Its so wonderful to be God' chosen ones
The darkness has no place in our lives
Glory to God, our Father, when we realize!

I don't know exactly when I wrote this poem.  The poetry is lousy but it tells the truth.   When we belong to God, are His precious children by the blood of Jesus, then we have the victory to overcome the devil.   One of my favorite songs is "Victory in Jesus".   It says it all!
My prayer is that, in the dark days we are now in and the darker ones ahead, that we are all overcomers.   I pray our eyes will never leave our Savior's face, our hearts are filled with His love, and that others will see Christ in us, the hope of glory.  Our courage must be in Jesus or we will surely be trodden underfoot by the evil.
